Abstract

This research is motivated by the low performance of employees. Many factors affect employee performance, one of which is work motivation. This study aims to determine how much influence work motivation has on employee performance at the Energy and Mineral Resources Office of West Sumatra Province. This research is a quantitative study with correlational research type. The population in this study were employees at the Energy and Mineral Resources Office of West Sumatra Province totaling 80 people and the sample size was determined by the Slovin formula with an error rate of 10%, sampling was carried out using proportional random sampling technique with a total sample of 45 people. The data collection tool uses a likert scale model questionnaire that has been tested to see validity and reliability, and the results of the trial that the questionnaire is valid and reliable. The data analysis technique used Simple Linear Regression technique with the help of the SPSS version 25 program. The results showed that 1) Employee performance at the Energy and Mineral Resources Office of West Sumatra Province was in the good category with an achievement level of 89.24%. 2) Work motivation at the Energy and Mineral Resources Office of West Sumatra Province is in the high category with an achievement level of 89.50%. 3) There is a significant influence between work motivation and employee performance of 67.2%. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the higher the work motivation of employees, the better the level of performance produced by employees at the Energy and Mineral Resources Office of West Sumatra Province.
